Task 3

Task 3

Design a theoretical prototype multi use shoe/trainer/boot box in your layout pads (or sketches which then go on your blogs) that will use recycled or natural materials only.

1. You are asked to research the area of shoe/boot packaging. Specifically boxes that use a combination of recycled goods –or- natural materials in some way. These boxes will need to both transport, protect and [ideally] provide a secondary use for the packaging after transportation to the purchaser’s home.
The display must be planned and visualised in colour in your A3 layout pads (or in colour sketches that will then go on your blogs) and clear enough so that your learning team will understand your ideas in discussion next week.

2. You must be able to list the various benefits of your idea to your learning team in the following week’s session.

3. Please take 2x close-up pictures of your designs either on your phone or otherwise. Then bring onto a mac and ‘save for web’ in Photoshop. We’ll then add these to the module’s blog to comment on.
Considerations:
  • Firstly – keep it simple. It must be a simple, elegant design that isn’t too complicated to assemble/take apart.
  • In terms of elements shown on the boxes, there must be both a clear title, explanation text, photos, etc.
  • The size of the box is dependent on the solution you think best.
  • No glue is to be used – you may have to think about other more
inventive (ideally natural) ways to fasten objects/artwork to the
    box’s sides.
  • Maybe think about origami possibly?
  • All text used must have a clear visual hierarchy [min a title, sales
bullet points and maker’s details] and any explanation/body text
must be a minimum of 12pt
  • Colour may be added to the box by using stencils or examples of veg
based inks etc if you wish.
